The prototyping model is used when you do not know the exact project requirements or you are not certain if your business idea deserves your investment. The prototype of the final product is first developed, tested and refined based on your constant feedback.

The system is partially implemented during the analysis phase giving you an opportunity to see the product early in the life cycle. Commercial product development starts as soon as you are satisfied with the final prototype.
